Kalamata International Airport ”Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos”, usually just called Kalamata Airport or Kalamata International Airport, has IATA code KLX and ICAO code LGKL. A Hellenic Air Force military base and an air-training department is located west of the runway, using the same runway as the civilian airport uses.
The closest international airport is Araxos Airport, GPA, located in Patras on the north end of the Peloponnese peninsula, the third largest city of Greece. The distance from Kalamata Airport to Araxos Airport is approximately 180 km/111 mi.
Central Kalamata city is located 11 km from the airport.
